The Darkest Twilight Empty
PostSubject: The Darkest Twilight   The Darkest Twilight I_icon_minitimeTue Sep 03, 2013 3:02 am

A wide plaza sprawled over an entire acre in the center of the city of Musari, the colored stones worn smooth with the feet of hundreds of generations, but still maintained. The stones were impossible to see today, though, as a crowd filled the entire mosaic, half unsure why they were there, the other there simply due to habit. A mixed roar of outrage, shock and satisfaction echoed through the mob as the people parted toward the north, and a man walked toward the center of the square, escorted by four heavily armored guards, swords drawn and ready to run him through if he even thought of trying to escape.

The walked across the entire plaza, and made their way to the high marble stairs of the front of the palace, covered by a shallow roof covered in glimmering red tiles, and supported by thick marble columns. They scaled the steps quickly, and the guards moved away from the prisoner. At the top of the stairs stood a man dressed in long ornate robes, a deep violet trimmed with gold, and a crimson cape flowing behind him. The condemned man looked at him defiantly, and a regal air surged through the dirtied, torn burlap robe he wore. The regal man smiled, and walked forward to address the waiting crowd.

He walked to the edge of the platform, a foot from the top stair, and held his hands to quell the last shouts of the crowd. “This is the price for defiance. This is the price for defying the Emperor, father of Agasaria and Guardian of its people!” He said, and turned suddenly, raising his hand toward the man, as if holding a sword. The crowd gasped as, without warning, a green crystal long sword materialized as his arm went through the motion, ending with its tip resting beneath the man’s chin. “Archbishop Dateu. There is no trial. You are hereby found guilty of treason, conspiracy, and endangering the well-being of Agasaria. The penalty is death.” He said the words with no emotion, no hesitation. The people murmured, but most were too frightened to shout any outrage or agreement with what had transpired. “Have you any final words?” the Emperor said, this time with a hint of amusement.

Dateu looked at the emperor; fear clear in his eyes, but not in his face. He turned to the crowd, scanning the faces, not knowing what he expected to see. He took a breath, and said simply “God help Agasaria.” The Emperor suppressed a chuckle, and stepped forward to shove the blade through the man’s throat.

I'm interested! I was wondering if I could have an Elf-human cross... Do the characters have to be a pure race?

Name: Lady Jennafi Duket

Race: Human

Age: 23

Sex: Female

Position/job: Songstress for the Court

Affinity: Affinity of the Dove: Although  Jennafi does not posses any magical enchantment over nature and the animals there in, she does posses the calm, stilled tranquility that is similar to that of the dove. Her songs woo and calm the anxious, the raging, and the pained. Like the dove, she is ever pure and calm, though that does not mean her emotions don't get rattled. Looking towards the skies and beyond is where she gets her inspiration for the songs she sings for the Court.

Personality: Jennafi can almost be mistaken for a priestess! She speaks with a soft, clear tone that most people are unable to mistake from however distance. She is always smiling unless dire things needs to be taken care of. If her assistance is every needed urgently, Jennafi is serious in expression. Not easily faltered by anger, she can always be found bowing her head and saying that she understands, if only to relax the person. Jennafi loves humor! Some days, she would sneak off and find the court jester or a bard just to listen to funny tales and songs. Her favorite thing to do is laugh and make friends.

The Darkest Twilight Fb2c2023-b48e-4553-bbbd-c41539685b8a_zps3337b101

Her mother did lose  child through child birth when Jennafi was 2 years old, and soon, the Duket's stopped trying to have more children. Jennafi was enough for them. She wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but gradually, as she grew up, her parents began to notice that she had a talent. At first, the thought she could control the minds of the birds and small animals when she sung, but Jennafi implored them that she just really liked to sing. A few strings were pulled until, at the age of 20, Jennafi finally got the opportunity to sing in the Emperor's Castle, and for the next 3 years, she's done so.

Weapons:
She only carries a smallish dagger in the inside of her undergarment leggings, just in case. Jennafi is not a violent person.

Iliana, your character is approved.

Phoenix, you can be a cross-breed, yes. However, Arras is split on how it views such offspring, so you may face some problems from a few npcs.

Name: E'lara Taenilla-Nimaelyste

Race: Elf

Age: 153

Sex: Female

Position/job: Currently unemployed.

Affinity: Affinity of the Margay. The Margay is a creature that looks like a small cheetah, with large eyes and a harmless-looking face like a baby feline. Residing in the jungle, the Margay is known for mimicking the cry of a scared monkey infant. The cries alert grown monkeys, who come to the rescue and end up being dinner.

Personality: E'lara comes off as a very friendly woman. She tends to smile at those she does not know, and will willingly strike up a conversation with any stranger. Though not obnoxiously generous or perky, she has an easygoing personality that can be magnetic to those around her. She enjoys spending time in crowds, but most of her time is spent in thoughtful solitude.

History: E'lara was raised by her father in a small cabin in the woods, away from the other Elves. Her mother had died giving birth to her and her father cut them off from society in an outrage. He was furious that his wife would die for no reason, and during infancy he was cold and sometimes even cruel to his daughter. When she was a few years old, however, he noticed that E'lara was casting minor illusions to amuse herself when he wasn't paying attention to her. He saw the opportunity for revenge against the God who had been so cruel as to steal his wife away. All of his energy was thrown into coaching his daughter. He taught her hexes and encouraged her power, feeding her Dark knowledge and teaching her about the awfulness of God. She listened to her father, growing more powerful by the day with natural talent and practice.

Her father has recently died, but told her that he heard the emperor in the city was a great man. He told her that she would be able to find a place there, and put her power to good use. It would make him so proud, he told her. She agreed and left soon after burying him. The day of Dateu's execution, she arrived in Musari, ready to see what the 'real world' was really like.

Weapons: E'lara carries several poison-dipped daggers on her person, all hidden from sight. She also has a collection of potions and powders for various things, none very appealing to the Light side of things, but those are packed in a case and not in instant reach.

Skills: She is a near-unbeatable shot with an arrow, due to long  years of practice. Though unable to swim, she has a charm that enables her to walk over water on a path of black ice. She is a rather good cook as well.

Magic: Black

An extra challenge! I accept! And after taking forever, I have a response! A short one, but one nethertheless!

Name: Leon

Race: Elf/Human

Age: 18

Sex: Male

Position/job: Assassin for Hire

Affinity: Waves: Since his mother was an Elf from a seaside town, Leon grew up with a high exposure to water. He adores messing around in the waves, and ever since he discovered he could manipulate them, his adoration increased.

Personality:A carefree guy with a slight addiction to alcohol. He works for it, has a shrine to it, and puts it on par with the ocean- a pretty high ranking. Wherever there's a lake of a large body of water, there's Leon. He has a small attention span whenever he's not on a job, and even then he gets distracted. Leon is always on the lookout for new jobs though, and can often be found in sailor taverns, trying to pick up a new gig whilst drinking away his excess money.

History: Born in a small seaside village to a female elf and a male human, Leon was discriminated against from a young age. His mother died from an attack of a violent mob when he was only four. Her death threw his father into a need for alcohol, and Leon was naturally dragged along to the bars- his father was too lazy and out of it to hire a nanny of any sorts. An assassin caught a glimpse of Leon one day and, being a half-breed himself, decided to take him on as an apprentice. From the tender age of six to fifteen, Leon was dragged all over the country to, simply, kill people without being found out.

Many of the jobs and job tips were gained in seaside taverns.

A job gone wrong got Leon's teacher killed off on the elf-human's fifteenth birthday- always a great present. From there, Leon struck it out on his own. He briefly contemplated finding his dad again, but decided to make his own name in the assassin world. That's where we find Leon today- a decently known assassin for hire.

Weapons: Knives all along the insides of his pant legs, a long sword on his back, a pouch of poisons

Skills: Extremely agile and flexible, can make deathly poisons, well trained in the use of swords and knives, knows how to hold his alcohol

Magic: Blue {Mostly manipulation of the waves and a bit of healing [mostly utilized for the making of poisons], but not much else}

REJECTED

Name: Ia

Race: Blessed Elvish

Age:  16

Sex: Female

Eye color: Pink

Position/job: Rogue/Hand of the Spirits

Affinity: The calm before the Storm, Ia is likely akin to that of a quiet breeze before Mother Nature herself has had enough with the blight upon her creation, and can be found actively engaging in hostility if pressed. Many of her own moral traits - strength, courage, joy, honor, freedom, loyalty to kin, realism, vigor, and the revering of her ancestors - can also make her more likened to a Firestorm if they are tested (usually by exhibiting vices that make one weak and vulnerable to the less desirable of man - and elven - kind), and often times are proven when necessary. It makes her more likely to defend others than herself more times than not, and once she has become the storm, she will not calm until what stood before her was wiped away as if a typhoon of rage across the lands had made them all but disappear.

Personality: Normally withdrawn and quiet, Ia finds herself getting into far more trouble than anyone with even half-brained wouldn't ask for, though these positions are normally forced upon herself. Her ability to speak out unless a situation has become desperate and deathly hostile makes it difficult for her to get along in society, but in this is by no means defenseless whatsoever. Ia's withdrawn nature also puts her on guard, most often times a small pat on the back would accidentally reward the giver with an elbow jammed between their ribs.

History: Born in Romaste to the Wulthron tribe with pink hair and eyes, normally marked for death in this specific Elven civilization, her parents had brought her forth to the guardian Spirits that they honour in an attempt to plead her safety. In return for her livelihood, however, she had to become the instrument of their direction, and so with the deal having been struck, Ia became a child of the Spirits. Zul and Nalah had taught her the ways of light and medium weighted weaponry and how best to use them to defend oneself and others, including bows, war axes, daggers, and one-handed swords, while Zekel and Karth had shown her the ways of strength through her own body and the energy around her. Now, at the age of Sixteen, she had been given direction to leave her homeland in search of what they believed would be Glory, and not to return until she was given proof of Valor and Honour.

Weapons: Normally carried on her person is a bladed bow made of Elven Glass, which unlike its brittle counterpart made for windows, is created via volcanic matter having hardened over time, with arrows made with tips of the same kind hanging from mid-back for the mouth of her quiver to be at the smaller of her back. Strapped to either thigh are matching daggers meant only for when the bow had run out of arrows. Other than these, Ia is basically armourless since her kind hadn't needed to waste resources on such things meant for battle and war.

Skills: Basic weapon combat skills (Bow, daggers, war axes, swordsmanship), herbalism, Bard (though no real conversational skills), acrobatics (parkour).

Magic:Due to the spirits that she is guided by, Ia will be able to take upon herself at most two talents (in which if she does take on both, they will quickly wear down on her stamina until she is completely incapacitated) from the Spirits she calls upon for a limited amount of time. Zul, the King of the Spirits, grants her a tactical edge, heightening her reflexes and skills in traditional and unconventional combat. Nalah, the Mother Spirit, will give her abilities to restore and bring forth growth (flora and fauna, or engorge beasts). Karth, the Spirit of Strength, will lend to her his unbridled might. Zekel, the Spirit of Mana, will bring forth an ability to use elemental magicks of which would stun the skillful if observed. Not all spirits have yet to bring themselves to her attention, so therefore she is still somewhat unskilled at these talents per the moment.

REJECTED
