Pokemon Journey

It was a bright, beautiful morning in Twinleaf Town. The sun was just peeking over the trees surrounding the small town and there was nary a cloud in sight. It was also a momentous day for three boys who were about to set off on the adventure of a lifetime: a Pokemon Journey!

I sat up in bed and opened my eyes. The day had finally come! I was going to be a Pokemon Trainer! I hopped out of bed and grabbed my backpack that I had packed last night. I walked downstairs, had a quick breakfast of toast and juice, went over a final checklist of things that I had with me, kissed my mom goodbye and walked outside. The air was warm and fresh, just the way a spring day should be. I started walking toward the middle of town where I was going to meet my two friends. I held my head high as I walked, confident in myself and looking forward to my future.

Vic woke to the sound of an alarm blaring on his pokegear. Good god, it's times like these that my hopes and dreams don't seem like they're worth it. Vic had spent the last few months saving up for it, so he could achieve his dream of becoming a pokemon trainer, but right now, it seemed much more satisfying to just huck it at the wall. With a long, contemplative sigh, Vic finally shut off the alarm and opened his eyes. That's when his dreams came rushing back to him.

Vic's drab grey room looked more desolate than ever. With only his hand-me-down bedframe and single matress for furniture. Vic once more looked to the poster hung on his wall, that he had won in a contest when he was 10. It showed a montage of various pokemon, with the words "Become a pokemon trainer today!" Written on it. Looking back to the rest of his room he sighed, more determined than ever to leave.

Vic jumped out of bed, quickly dropping to the ground to begin his morning workout. He rattled off his 50 pushups, 100 situps, and 50 squats before laying back on his bed, panting. He took a moment's rest before getting up and getting dressed, barely getting his tight old shirt on. He walked down the hall, tip-toeing past his father's room to not wake him. Vic walked down the stairs and grabbed a roll for breakfast, and walked outside, eager to start his journey.

I see Vic approaching and walk over to him. "Weren't the three of us supposed to meet here? He must have overslept. Oh well. He'll catch up. Let's head to Professor Rowan's lab and get our starter Pokemon!" We walk together out of Twinleaf Town and onto Route 1 toward Sandgem Town and Professor Rowan's lab.

"You sure you don't wanna wait? I mean, I'm excited to start this too, but we aren't sticking with the whole 'no man left behind' thing?" Vic asked, still keeping pace with link's character.

(Sorry about that. I never did say my character name. It's John.)

(I am currently writing my post, and I am going to edit this post unless someone posts first.)

Vic turns to John as they're walking. "So, John, any thought on what you want your first pokemon to be? I want to have an eevee."

"I think they will have Pokemon we can choose from. If I'm not mistaken, they are Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig. Personally, I want a Turtwig." I smile, knowing that by the end of the day, we will be Pokemon Trainers.

"Hmmm, a turtwig, the tint leaf pokemon. Not a bad choice. I think I'm going to choose Chimchar." Vic says, showing off his knowledge of pokemon, gained from countless hours of studying.

I hear a foreign sounding voice coming from behind me. I turn and see a boy who looks about our age. "Yeah you're headed the right direction. We're on our way to Professor Rowan's lab in Sandgem Town. You can come with us if you want. I'm John and this is Vic."

Vic chuckles, and shakes his hand. "Well, good to have you on board Gavin."

"We should probably keep moving. We don't want to be late getting our starter Pokemon." I look at my map to make sure we're going the right direction, then start heading toward Sandgem Town.

"Of course not." Vic said. "Wanna race?" Vic asked teasingly, still feeling good physically after his morning workout.

"Not really. I'd prefer to take things slow and steady. Remember, after we get our starter Pokemon, we still have a full day of walking ahead of us." What I don't want to tell him is that I'm not in a rush to get anywhere. I do have somewhat of a timetable, but if things take longer than expected, I won't stress. Vic seems to be impatient and hasty, whereas I'm more patient and easygoing.

Gavin shrugged. He could be more than(why am I an idiot?) a little lethargic sometimes. "Why run when we could just walk anyways? Also how far is the place anyways? I hope not too far...?" Okay. More than a little lethargic.

Vic chuckled, running in front of the others, turning to face them, walking backward as they went. "C'mon guys! Where's your sense of excitement, your sense of adventure? Don't you wanna go out and get our first pokemon?"

"I do want to get my first Pokemon, I just want it to come naturally. We'll get to the lab in time, don't you worry. The real question is which Pokemon are each of us going to choose?"

"Well," Vic starts, recalling the information he had studied for weeks before, "from what I understand, there are three pokemon we can choose. There is Turtwig, the tiny leaf pokemon, a grass type. There is Piplup, the penguin pokemon, a water type. And finally, there is Chimchar, the chimp pokemon, a fire type. Personally, I feel like Chimchar is right up my alley. I want that little guy to be my first pokemon." Vic speaks with a passion, and it's not hard to tell that pokemon are basically his whole life.
